We have teamed up with the leading curators of our cultural institutions to gain insight into the process involved in planning, curating and managing the exhibition programme. Enjoy a gallery tour, focusing on how exhibitions and works are selected with a particular emphasis on storytelling. Locations include Marsh’s Library & The National Print Museum.

Meet The Curator at Temple Bar Galleries & Studios

Join Rayne Booth, Programme Curator at Temple Bar Galleries and Studios as she takes us on a tour of Temple Bar Galleries and Studios an artists community in the heart of Dublin city centre. Founded in 1983, the building houses thirty artists’ studios in which professional visual artists make their work. The tour will include an overview of the fascinating history of TBG&S, a tour of the building & studios and an introduction to the work of Amie Siegel.

Join Dr Jennifer Goff, curator of the Eileen Gray exhibition at the National Museum of Ireland – Decorative Arts & History, Collins Barracks, for this talk, looking at the life and work of Eileen Gray, one of the most celebrated and influential designers and architects of the 20th-century. The talk will also focus on the exhibition itself and how her aesthetic approach informed the design of the exhibition from signage to layout.

Join us at Marsh’s Library (beside St Patrick’s Cathedral) to explore ancient fragments of printed books and manuscripts found within volumes in the Library’s collection. The oldest of these fragments, known to specialists as binding waste, date back to the eleventh and twelfth centuries, but most date from the 1500s and 1600s. These rare and beautiful survivals tell us much about the ways in which books and manuscripts were used, re-used and recycled. This short talk will also include an introduction to current work of this significant rare books library.

Join us at the National Print Museum to discover the story behind the printed word. This interactive tour will trace the development of this unique museum, explore some highlights from the permanent exhibition, and present an opportunity to witness elements of the collection come to life. There may even be a chance to print your own letterpress poster!

Join us at the Hugh Lane Gallery as we explore behind the scenes at one of our favourite galleries in Dublin. We will chat to Logan Sisley, Exhibitions Curator at the Gallery, along with guest speakers, in an exploration of the Gallery’s permanent collection, temporary exhibitions and conservation projects, including a chat with Irish artist Jesse Jones who continues the gallery’s 2016 theme of Artist as Witness, in her new work entitled No More Fun and Games.
