    MILTON GLASER | OFFSET 2014
MILTON GLASER | OFFSET 2014 The man behind the I Heart NY logo, the Brooklyn Lager identity, that iconic Dylan image, a founder of the revolutionary Pushpin studio and the author of several books about how to think creatively, Milton Glaser is the quintessential American designer. Irreverent, intellectual and self assured, Glaser’s work has helped define and redefine design from the 50s on. You’ve worn the T-Shirt, drank the beer, listened to the bands, read the books – now watch this exclusive interview filmed in his studio by author and friend of OFFSET Steve Heller.

    MARIAN BANTJES | OFFSET 2014
MARIAN BANTJES | OFFSET 2014 Recognised almost equally as an illustrator, artist, typographer and writer, Marian opened the influential design agency Digitopolis in 1994 only to close it a decade later, retreating to a small island of off the West Coast of Canada. Pursuing passion projects and writing on design, Marian has built almost a second, separate career bringing an extremely particular perspective to commercial work, while also exhibiting in fine art galleries. Her work is delicate and detailed and often includes ornamental patterns that boarder on the obsessive. Marian Bantjes is one of the world’s top contemporary visual designers; when you Google her the ‘people also searched for’ tab brings up Steven Heller, Paula Scher, Micheal Bierut and Stefan Sagmeister. Exalted company.
    JON BURGERMAN | OFFSET 2014
JON BURGERMAN | OFFSET 2014 You know that kid who spent all his time doodling at the back of the class? That’s Jon Burgerman. The only difference is that he never stopped. He’s continued to doodle an infinity of monsters and grotesques and animals and food (lots of food) over every surface he could possibly find. And he’s become rather successful. Ok, very successful. Bright, colourful, joyful and wry, Burgerman has made transitioning from commercial illustrator to artist look easy and comfortable. He happily jumps back and forth between the two spaces, pursuing personal projects as much as engaging in client work. He has a MASSIVE list of collaborations and solo shows that have spanned the globe.
    JEFF GREENSPAN | OFFSET 2014
JEFF GREENSPAN | OFFSET 2014 We guess you could say that Jeff is an ideas man – and it’s good for Jeff that in a digital space that increasing crowded with dross and nonsense and cats, that great ideas stand out. He makes things that people love to share – things that are somehow ephemeral and meaningful at the same time (check out his Hipster Bear Traps and The World’s Most Exclusive Website and NYC Tourist Lanes, for starters). Formerly Buzzfeed’s Chief Creative Officer he now freelances with some of the worlds biggest brands and most significant creative agencies as they try to figure out what the hell people like these days. Jeff is one of the people that makes the internet not terrible.
    DETAIL | OFFSET 2014
DETAIL | OFFSET 2014 Clear messages, interactive design and identity – the output from DETAIL. graphic design studio has become part of Dublin’s self image. They’ve designed the wayfaring systems for Dublin City Council Leisure centres, developed the branding for CRANN, Trinity College Dublin’s advanced nanoscience laboratory, and defined the identity for Father Colin’s Park, Ireland’s first sustainable public green. Their work has brought a clarity of purpose to the city, and it’s fitting that their most notable collaboration has been with an institution that sits between technology and art – the Science Gallery. Their on-going collaboration with one of Ireland’s leading cultural institutions has helped drive the popularity of the Science Gallery’s exhibitions, here and abroad. Detail. consistently produce some of the Ireland’s most striking, engaging and exciting contemporary design work
    NEVILLE BRODY | OFFSET 2014
NEVILLE BRODY | OFFSET 2014 Art director of the seminal British magazine, The Face and later Arena. Co-founder of the visionary FontShop, the first ever reseller of digital fonts. Principal and co-owner of Research Studios, an international graphic design studio, which takes on projects as diverse as typography for The Times, and on screen design for the Mission Impossible movies. Brody’s illustrious career has brought him from directing fashion shoots for the new romantics of the 80s, to the heights of the the corporate establishment – redesigning the BBC identity. A revolutionary creative who is part of the firmament of British design. All that said, he’ll never fully outgrow his association with The Face. Nor would we want him to.
    MOTHER LONDON | OFFSET 2014
MOTHER LONDON | OFFSET 2014 A rarity in the advertising world – a company that has scaled, expanded and yet remained in their own words, “fiercely independent”. They’ve taken on the biggest and most corporate of clients since the company was formed around a kitchen table in 1996, but they never lost their cool, their edge or their drive. Over the years they’ve been responsible for some of memorable campaigns for IKEA, Coca Cola, Stella Artois and tons more. They’ve also become a sort of cultural hub, with regular gigs, exhibitions and newsletters that both contribute to, and comment on, art, design and creativity. An agency other agencies want to be.
    AISLING FARINELLA | OFFSET 2014
AISLING FARINELLA | OFFSET 2014 Freelance fashion stylist doesn't really cover - she's also a creative director, consultant and producer for a whole host of inspiring projects that have taken her to London and New York. For the last seven years, Aisling has been classing up Dublin. She co-founded The Loft Market, a boutique fashion and jewellery collective in 2005, giving a quality outlet to young Irish designers, she was partner at the chic and much loved Circus Store Boutique between 2007 and 2010 and is editor and founder of the culture/fashion periodical, Thread magazine. Aisling hasn't only built a career for herself, she's been building a creative community in Dublin.
    CHRIS JUDGE | OFFSET 2014
CHRIS JUDGE | OFFSET 2014 Chris has never missed an OFFSET – he’s been here as a delegate, second stage speaker, second stage interviewer, and now finally, the main stage. And he’s earned it. Already a sought after illustrator on the international scene with a who’s who roster of clients, Chris now has published three picture books, including the massively successful ‘Beast’ series, and has launched two iOS apps based on the character – The Lonely Beast ABC and The Lonely Beast 123. Deceptively simple, approachable, friendly work that’s caught in a comic book-reading kid’s bedroom time-warp. Chris is an Irish Illustrator who’s quietly become a gigantic hit.
    GENEVIEVE GAUCKLER | OFFSET 2014
GENEVIEVE GAUCKLER | OFFSET 2014 A globe-trotting artist, illustrator, graphic designer and art director, Genevieve’s career has been an never-ending reformulation of loveable wide-eyed characters often laid against photographic backgrounds. Her whimsical, inventive work, which bursts with personality, has both subverted and reinvigorated brands, notably through collaborations with Lacoste and Adobe, and she’s contributed countless illustrations to major publications including IDN, Vogue UK and Flaunt. She also developed the creative for Beck’s The Information. She has several books to her name and recently exhibited collections in Tokyo, Melbourne and Paris. So yeah, she’s been pretty busy.
    RICHARD TURLEY | OFFSET 2014
RICHARD TURLEY | OFFSET 2014 Former OFFSETTERS will know that by-and-large, we’re not suity people. But if ever there was someone who’d make us think again about slapping on some cufflinks and doing up a double windsor, it’s the guy who made business cool. Creative Director of Bloomberg Businessweek, Turley (along with editor Josh Tyrangiel), is proving that print isn’t dead – not if you do it right. Immediately following his hire in 2011, Turley, a graduate of the Guardian’s art desk, brought in boldly coloured infographics, concept driven, dramatic covers and laced the mag with an irreverent dose of pop-culture. He made Businessweek one of the most strikingly visual magazines on the ‘serious’ shelf. His work had now been lovingly transitioned to iPad – the Businessweek app is glorious. We’re pretty sure that he’s not really suity either.
    I LOVE DUST | OFFSET 2014
I LOVE DUST | OFFSET 2014 Is it too weird to just call them sensational? A little bit metal, a little bit nerdy. A little bit street, a little bit boardroom. Darlings of corporate brands and punky skaters alike, cultural omnivores ilovedust have managed to do that difficult thing: being equally lauded for the integrity of their commercial endeavours as they are for their personal projects. Their work has adorned everything from walls to soda cans to trainers to billboards. Grown from humble-ish roots into a fully fledged design and illustration agency, ilovedust have developed an iconoclastic style that’s been on-trend for a over a decade. We’re delighted to welcome agency founders Mark Graham and Ben Beach so that they can tell us how they’ve been so consistently brilliant, for so long.
BROWN BAG FILMS | OFFSET 2014
BROWN BAG FILMS | OFFSET 2014 Twenty years old this year and already fantastically successful, Brown Bag Films feels like it’s a company that still has its best days in front of it. They seemed to come from nowhere with a 2002 Oscar nomination for the charming, innocent short, Give Up Yer Auld Sins, but Cathal Gaffney and Darragh O’Connell had been grafting in commercial work for years before that. They’ve since garnered another Oscar nomination, as well as nods at the BAFTA and Emmy for their TV series, Octonauts. Last year, they launched Henry Hugglemonster on Disney Junior, a show based on Niamh Sharkey’s books. This is on top of their growing stable of work that includes Doc McStuffins, Peter Rabbit and Noddy in Toyland. They continue to work with the world’s biggest names in TV entertainment, and have offices in LA and, of course, Dublin.
    SARAH ILLENBERGER | OFFSET 2014
SARAH ILLENBERGER | OFFSET 2014 Right, so she takes all these things, and makes other things out of them, and then sometimes works with a photographer to photograph the thing she’s just made and then you look at it and it’s like, the most wonderful thing that you’ve ever seen and you’re kinda thinking, is that digital? It’s that photoshopped, and then you figure out, wow, no, that’s like a thing she’s *made* and it’s wonderful, and quirky and tangible and real, and just the most perfect thing you’ve ever seen, really. That’s what Illenberger does. She’s drowning in awards. A headliner from OFFSET 2013, Sarah unfortunately had to pull out at the last minute, so we were delighted that we could snag her for OFFSET 2014.
    MIKE PERRY | OFFSET 2014
MIKE PERRY | OFFSET 2014 Funky, cool, fun, cheeky, free spirited – whatever adjectives you want to throw at Perry, most of them stick. An absolutely mind-boggling array of influences blended together in a dazzling output that takes in illustration, design, art-direction, animation and art business over the last decade-and-a-bit. His client roster includes The New York Times, Nike, Apple and Urban Outfitters, where he started his career. All the heavy hitting agencies have him on the metaphorical Rolodex – think Saatchi and Saatchi, Wolff Olins, W+K and many, many more. His work gives more than a passing nod to the mavericks that reinvented illustration in 60s, like Gill and Chwast, with a hefty dollop of early 90s MTV.
